Welcome

To whom it may concern:

I am seeking a an opportunity to teach Biology as an Adjunct Professor at a County or State facility of higher learning. I will also consider teaching in middle or high school programs. Filling in part time for a semester, teaching a lab class, or other 'temporary' positions would be of particular interest due to my current business obligations.

After a very successful career in business management, I wish to pursue a career that enables me to impart my knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural sciences to students. Time spent student teaching and coaching soccer at Burlington H.S. in Vermont allowed me to experience the rewards of sharing my passion for learning and mentoring. I am excited by the prospect of connecting with students in the classroom where I can motivate them and instill a high level of enthusiasm for the natural sciences.

I have demonstrated academic excellence through my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and am fully qualified to teach Biology and General Science courses. I have passed the required Praxis Series Exams in General Science Content Knowledge Parts 1 & 2 (scores of 182 & 179 respectively) and Biology Content Knowledge Part 2 (score 180). I received my Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) in Biology from the State of New Jersey on October 4, 2004. My Substitute Teaching Certificate was issued August 13, 2004.

My experience student teaching Biology at Burlington H.S. convinced me that while it is important for a teacher to impart the fundamentals of a school-mandated curriculum, it is equally important to open the students' eyes to the wonders of science and the way in which it has helped us to understand the incredible order and complexity of our natural world. A teacher's ability to convey these ideas enthusiastically and to empower students to explore life and think independently enhances the likelihood of their embracing, and possibly contributing to, the sciences.

In my professional experience, I have served on the Board of many professional organizations including several committees that examined New Jersey environmental issues. I currently serve on the Board of the New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics Education at Kean University, the Union County Alliance, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, and I am a member of the Regional Plan Association and the Boys & Girls Club of Hudson County.

I thank you in advance for your review of my curriculum vitae and other related materials, and I look forward to meeting with you to discuss potential opportunities further.

Sincerely,
